UNDEFINED, AN EXHIBITION OF WORKS PAST AND PRESENT BY JESSICA BELL AT THE JANETTE KENNEDY GALLERY: OCTOBER 3, 2022 - NOVEMBER 3, 2022


On October 22, 2022, from 2 pm to 5 pm, The Janette Kennedy Gallery at South Side on Lamar will host a reception for the artist.


DALLAS, TEXAS – The Janette Kennedy Gallery presents Undefined, an exhibition of selected works past and present by Jessica Bell. The show employs playful iconog- raphy and everyday items to ignite curiosity in the viewer for them to discover the meaning of the art. Each piece is made with a set intention in mind, and the collection of work is curated to be undefined, allowing the viewer to determine their understanding of the messages embedded in the work.


The artist reception will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022 from 2pm-5pm.

About Jessica Bell

Jessica Bell is a contemporary sculptor and socially engaged artist. Focusing on using traditional techniques mixed with contemporary designs, Bell’s work addresses race, identity, and social issues. Bell uses smaller units to construct larger works and installations. She is a recipient of the Red Bull Artist Grant, Priscilla Art Award, Juanita Craft Artist Residency, along with several municipal artist grants over the course of her career and has participated in an artist talk at the Dallas Museum of Art and teaching workshops at the Dallas Contemporary.


Bell holds a Master of Science in Education with a concentration in Ceramics and Curriculum Writing, a Bachelor in Art Education and Fine Arts degree, and certifications in graphic design and welding. Additionally, she is the sculptor professor for Booker T. Washington School of the Performing and Visual Arts. Her work has been shown in a variety of galleries, and she has presented her work as a national leader in art educa- tion in urban environments at conferences across the country.
